Serenity

Too often we forget that life is short and we lose track of our objectivity, forgetting that we never have another opportunity to retrace our steps. We lose small windows of time to make a difference in someones life, in most cases never to have it again. Every encounter that we come by, has its purpose, though me may not see it right away.

God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

I cannot predict the future, I cannot change the past, I have the present moment, I must treat it as my last.

I must use the moment wisely, for it soon shall pass away, and be lost to me forever, as part of yesterday

I must exercise compassion, Help the fallen to their feet, Be a friend to the friendless, Make an empty life complete.

The unkind things that I do today, May never be undone, Any friendships that I fail to win, May nevermore be won.

I may not have another chance, On bended knee to pray, And I thank God with humble heart, For giving me the day.

It is my prayer that if I am chosen to make an impact on someone’s life, I am successful. Lord, please don’t let me miss those chance encounters that you place in front of me. Let me be of service to you in any way that you design. Do not allow me to sleep, when I should be awake. If I wear blinders, help me to remove them so that I can better serve you, for I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
